BEST Graduate Concentration

Application instructions are at the bottom of the page

Dear Prospective Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the BEST Graduate Concentration offered through the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative. The goal of this program is to prepare participants to meet the needs (and capitalize on the strengths) of students with emotional and behavioral challenges in all environments. Open to classroom teachers, special educators, school administrators, and other professionals and community members, the core of this program is a 3 course sequence:

  • EDSP 305 Interagency collaboration & resource development: Families, schools, communities, local and state agencies
  • EDSP 306 Overview and assessment of emotional and behavioral disabilities
  • EDSP 307 Prevention & teaching strategies for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities

Participants may take:

  • A single course, for the purpose of advanced training
  • The 9-credit core program, to earn the certificate
  • The core program plus advanced courses, to create a more comprehensive and individualized curriculum

Credits earned through this concentration can be applied to a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) or Certificate of Advanced study (C.A.S.) in special education at participating institutions.

Successful completion of the core curriculum will result in the core concentration certificate. If accepted into a degree program, these credits can be applied toward a masters degree or certificate of advanced study. If you are interested in pursuing degree options, please contact me directly because it may take several weeks to explore degree opportunities and you will need to complete an application for the graduate degree.

If you are interested in the program please complete the application instructions at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions, please contact me by phone (802-656-1130) or email (jesse.suter@uvm.edu).

Sincerely,

Jesse Suter
