Six Honored at CESS Staff Appreciation Luncheon
- By College of Education and Social Services
Six CESS staff members received the first ever Staff Council Awards at Tuesday’s Staff Appreciation Day luncheon at the Burlington Country Club. Kelly Circe, Kunie Renaud, Jean Evans, Susan Hagerty, Rachel Cronin, and Karen Orr each stepped forward as their name was called to receive their award from Dean Fayneese Miller.
In her welcoming remarks, Dean Miller praised the dedicated work of all CESS staff members, and spoke of the importance of acknowledging CESS colleagues for their good work. She thanked all those who submitted nominations for the awards, and in particular the Staff Advisory Council for coming up with the wording on the award certificate. “The original plan was to give two awards,” Dean Miller explained. “But given the number of worthy nominees, we are going to recognize six people,” she said. Then added, “Each will get $500 along with the award and will be officially recognized in all official university publications.”
Before calling up the awardees, Dean Miller paused to read the citation on the award:
In recognition of your dedication in preparing outstanding professionals in education, social work, and human services and providing exemplary professional service to Vermont, nationally, and globally to create a more humane and just society, free from oppression, that maximizes human potential and the quality of life for all individuals, families and communities.
A worthy tribute to all CESS staff members without whom the important work of the college would not get done.
The awards given, everyone then enjoyed the sumptuous buffet prepared by the cook staff at the Burlington Country Club.
