ISE Summer Online Course: EDSP 228: Advanced Methods and Curriculum in Intensive Special Education
3 Graduate Credits through the University of Vermont. Online Course using Blackboard. Instructor: Ginny Iverson.

Course Description: This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design, implement and evaluate quality specialized instruction. Participants will utilize evidence-based practices, including advanced specialized instructional methods and universal design principles, to create individualized instructional programs for students with very unique learning profiles. They will also learn a process for designing Positive Behavior Support Plans for students with highly challenging behaviors. Methods for delivering specialized instruction in inclusive school and community environments will be offered. All instructional plans will be designed within a framework that promotes dignity and respect towards the student and his/her family. Participants in this course will continuously reflect on their practice in order to support their commitment to high student achievement, preparation, inclusive practices, advocacy and self-determination.
