Who should be part of our BEST team?

Your BEST Summer Institute Action Plan should focus on a priority identified in your school or supervisory union/district strategic plan or action plan.

How do you get to the additional pages that are referred to on a page?

What is the cost of pre-registration?

Pre-registration is $550 for each school team.

How much does it cost to register each individual for BEST?

Registration is $550 per person.

Is the $550 pre-registration fee for the school team in addition to all the individuals’ registration fees?

No. The $550 is subtracted from the total of all the individuals’ fees.

How much does the BEST graduate course cost, and how many credits is it?

There are 3 UVM graduate credits offered at a cost of approx. $600. (Note: there are additional fees if student is taking more than one course during Fall 2011.)

The BEST Summer Institute Course for 2011 is Working Smarter, Not Harder: Aligning Systems, Data and Practices to Promote Social and Academic Success. It is listed on our BEST web site. Please read the syllabus & what you need to do before registering for the course.

Are there any course assignments due before or after the institute?

Assignments for the BEST graduate course are due prior to the institute, during the institute, and following the institute during the fall. Please see the graduate course page and syllabus for more details."

Are rooms included as part of the registration fee?

The registration fee does not include your hotel fees. You need to make your own room registration through Killington Grand Resort, 1-800-282-9955. When you call, indicate that you’re part of the BEST Summer Institute.

Are meals included as part of the registration fee?

Breakfast, lunch and mid-morning snack are served, Monday through Thursday. Dinner is on-your-own every night.

Are there any evening activities?

There is a Wednesday night dance. The Killington Grand Resort and area offers a range of activities for you to do during your free time.

Can we substitute a team member if someone drops out? Do we need to contact anyone?

Yes, and please contact Anne Dubie (656-5775, anne.dubie@uvm.edu) as soon as possible.

When can we check-in?

Staff will be available to check you in on Sunday evening, 7 to 8:30 PM and Monday morning, 7 to 8 AM, prior to the start of the institute. If you plan to check-in on Sunday evening, make sure your room reservation starts on Sunday.
