Course Description

Everyone taking this course needs to attend the full 2 days of Olweus Committee Training. This course utilizes a Practicum Format to focus on the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program that was developed and researched in Norway for more than 20 years by Dan Olweus. The Olweus Program uses a systemic approach to preventing and resolving bullying and harassment issues in our classrooms, schools and communities. The objective of this course is to help participants understand the complex issues involved with bullying; and then, what needs to be done to effectively prevent, intervene and respond.

Course Requirements

  • Register for course electronically
  • Attend 2 days of training as part of school's bullying prevention or school climate committee
  • Attend monthly follow-up committee meetings for consultation and technical assistance
  • Complete Committee Workbook as a team
  • Read 3 books
  • Propose an action-plan for project of your own design, implement, and then summarize. If you would like to complete, Assignment Four: Proposed Action Plan, on-line and email it directly, please select Email Assignment Four
