- By Kelly Ann Hamshaw
Dr. Baker was invited to testify before the Senate Finance Committee chaired by Senator Ann Cummings on February 1, 2012 during a session dedicated to mobile home issues post-Tropical Storm Irene. His testimony shared findings from the park resident survey completed in Fall 2011, preliminary results from a floodplain analysis of the state’s parks, and offered thoughts about opportunities for strengthening mobile home parks communities as Vermont rebuilds from Irene.
Dr. Baker is the Project Director for a three-year research grant investigating the vulnerabilities of Vermont's mobile home parks to disasters and developing strategies for increasing resilience of these unique rural communities. This work is funded by the USDA Disaster Resilience for Rural Communities Program.
