Toxic products in the home.Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Throughout Vermont, there are unknown amounts of toxic cleaning, health and beauty, and garden pesticide products. This project examines Vermont consumers' levels of awareness, knowledge, and attitudes related to toxic and non-toxic products in the home. The study investigates the triggers that lead consumers to make the purchasing decisions that they do. Willingness to pay for non-toxic substitutes is also examined. A report, based on the analysis of data from a statewide telephone survey, has been completed for the Agency. The researchers and a representative from the Agency are currently writing a journal article based on the research process and the findings of the study. The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Conservation, will use these results to help explore ways to encourage consumers to avoid toxic products. (J. Kolodinsky, T.
