RESEARCH ECONOMIST
Economic & Policy Resources is seeking a motivated individual to join our team in the position of Research Economist. The person in this position performs routine research and analytical tasks in support of our public policy and economic client services. Typical tasks include undertaking on-line and library research, obtaining and entering data into spreadsheets, running packaged software, undertaking statistical analyses, regular maintenance of data base files, interpretation of intermediate results, drafting of reports and analytical support to senior staff. This is a full-time position offering advancement opportunities for the right candidate.
Duties: The Research Economist's duties include assisting in the conduct of the Company's economic research and public policy consulting practice. Duties include the conduct of electronic and library research, entering data into packaged software such as Excel, Access or Rats, undertaking statistical analyses under the supervision of senior staff, interpretation of analytical results, occasional field research, building economic and financial models using spreadsheets and other statistical-forecasting software, undertaking economic and policy analyses, and preparing written reports. The position also includes occasional administrative support duties. A preferred candidate would be able to undertake project research and analysis by exercising sound basic judgment with minimal task-by-task guidance. This position requires attention to detail and ability to work with other team members toward common deadlines and goals. All tasks require extensive contact with other staff, clients, and vendors.
Entry Requirements: Applicants must have prior working knowledge of college-level macro- and microeconomics, "best practices" research methods, statistics and statistical analysis, financial analysis and/or accounting. A four-year or graduate level college degree in economics or a closely related field is required. The Company provides training on specific system software and operations.
