The Democratic Staff of the Joint Economic Committee is seeking an entry-level or experienced Research Assistant. The position requires a background in economics and/or statistics with strong computer and analytical skills.  An understanding of basic economic data and knowledge of public and private data sources are required.  Duties will include analyzing both economic and non-economic data, preparing data in graphic and tabular forms, conducting background research on a variety of issues, and providing general research support for staff economists.  Other responsibilities will include assisting in preparation for committee hearings, attending meetings, and other general office activities.

The Joint Economic Committee's primary task is to review economic conditions and make recommendations to Congress to achieve full employment and maximum levels of sustainable growth.
