Water Quality Monitoring

In 2003 CDAE faculty and graduate students facilitated a participatory forum to identify community goals. Lack of local environmental data has been a significant hindrance to community development.  Since then, graduate and undergraduate students from UVM have   compiled water quality data from 12 rural Honduran communities, and have also returned the information to the community members through participatory forums and workshops.

This exciting project has developed partnerships with local Honduran high schools, communities, and health officials.  It includes the physical water testing as well as technology transfer and water
quality education.  Students have also worked with Club Juma, an environmental club made up of High School students interested in continuing the water monitoring program.
