Bio/Interests:
Mary Mankin graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1991 with a BS in English and served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy for thirteen years, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. She served on six different ships in various departments, including deck, engineering, operations, combat systems, and navigation departments. She also served as an instructor of newly commissioned officers in basic ship operations before they reported to their first shipboard assignments as officers. She had the opportunity to make several deployments overseas, including four to the Persian Gulf. In June 2004, Miss Mankin bought a house in Richford, Vermont and moved north. She spent her first two months of freedom hiking over 700 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to southern Virginia. In Richford, she volunteers at the town library as Programs and Grants Coordinator. She also serves as the Town Service Officer. She is active in the Covered Bridges Garden Club and the Green Mountain Club. Mary began the CDAE Program in Fall 2005.
