Bio/Interests:
Jessica Hyman grew up on a dairy farm in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. She did her undergraduate work in linguistics and philosophy and has spent almost a decade in community journalism in Vermont - including running a weekly newspaper in the Northeast Kingdom and, most recently, coordinating the Chittenden County coverage at the Burlington Free Press. She is interested in land use and development issues, agricultural entrepreneurship, local food education and community decision-making (hurrah for Town
Meeting Day!). As a research assistant at the Center for Rural Studies, she is studying agricultural land use and the effect of development pressure on land-use decisions. When not on campus, she is likely gardening, cycling or renovating her new home in the Old North End.
