Research Intern - Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee

Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee, a pioneer in the fair trade and Organic coffee industry, is seeking a research intern. Dean's Beans is collaborating with a farmer’s cooperative in Nicaragua to value the unpaid work of women in the coffee supply chain and would like to bolster their effort with concrete research. The intern will learn about Dean's Beans' unique business model, study their supply chain, and report on the work of women – paid or unpaid – along their supply chain. The intern will then assist the company in drafting a development plan for valuing the unpaid work of women in other cooperatives that we work with. Leland International Hunger Fellows Program

During each two-year fellowship cycle, 12-15 Leland Fellows are placed with international development organizations that include international and local NGOs, U.S. government agencies and multilateral organizations. Fellows work on a variety of food security issues, such as agricultural development, nutrition, natural resource management, agribusiness development and women’s empowerment.

The program begins with a one-year field placement in a developing country in Asia, Africa, or Latin America. Field activities often include research, program design and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of projects.
