This series will look at three current issues facing immigrants in the United States today.

Part I: Historical Exclusion Towards Immigrants - Tues. Sept. 12 5:00-6:30p.m. University Heights, Multipurpose Room

Abandonded: The Betrayal of America's Immigrants - This film examines the historical policies and laws directed at keeping immigrants from coming to the U.S. It takes a closer look at the detention and deportation policies while capturing anti-immigrant sentiment. A facilitated discussion will follow afterwards.

Part II: Immigration Today: Voices and Experiences of the Journey Tues. Sept. 26 6:00-7:30p.m. Living/Learning Fireplace Loung

A panel of immigrants share their stories and perspectives on the growing anti-immigrant sentiment. Panel members include - Muhadeeb Batah, Islamic Society, Jacob Bogre and Abraham Awolich from the Association of Africans.

Part III: Immigration Post 9/11: Civil Rights and Immigrant Rights at Risk - Tues. Oct. 17 5:00-6:30p.m. Billings, N. Lounge

A panel on the changes to immigrants' civil rights post 9/11 and how people are being targeted. Panel members include: Michele Jenness from Vermont Refugee Assistance, Arthur C. Edershwim, Professor Staff Attorney and Assistant Professor of Law, South Royalton Legal Clinic, and Nancy Welch, Immigrant Rights Vermont.
