Succes is Diversity: Scripps Philosophy and Practices

Scripps Network is best knowm for their lifestyle television brands which include: HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel and Great American Country (GAC). Scripps has been invited by the Center for Cultural Pluralism because of the trend setting role their content has played in their cultural and social justice issues and because of their successes in attracting people from a diverse range of cultural and ethnic background to their staff.

Melissa Sykes, Vice President , Content Diversity, Scripps Network:

As Vice President, Content Diversity, Scripps Networks, Melissa Sykes is responsible for ongoing program production diversity outreach and for initiating and overseeing a diversity assessment plan for Scripps Networks, Food Network, HGTV, DIY and FLN, to reflect and serve the business needs and future growth of the networks. She provides oversight in identifying and developing contacts with new producers and expanding the range of diverse production resources.  Her responsibilities also include providing programming support for Scripps Networks diversity partnerships.

Kim Williamson, Director, Prime Time Programming and Development, Food Network & Cooking Channel:

Kim M. Williamson serves as a Director of Prime Time Programming and Development for Food Network and Cooking Channel in New York City. Central to her role at Food Network is the creation of innovative and entertaining show concepts, identifying and cultivating new on-air talent and adding more culturally diverse subject matter and talent to the network.
