Cultivate Compassion & Peace in a Multicultural World

Location: UVM Recital Hall & Atrium
Description: Imam Jamal Rahman, a popular speaker on Islam, Sufi spirituality and interfaith relations, and Spiritual Director Carol A. Fournier, director of Silver Dove Institute, discuss the topic of multicultural and interfaith spiritual care and cultivating interfaith communities of understanding for the Silver Dove Institute’s ‘Coming of Age’ 21st Birthday fundraiser on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM

This exciting event sponsored by The University of Vermont: Center of Cultural Pluralism will be held in the recital hall at the Southwick Music Building (Redstone Campus) at the University of Vermont.

People Like Us: Understanding the Rules of the Game

Time: 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Location: L/L Commons Rm 216
Description: Center for Cultural Pluralism's Social Justice Film Series:

People Like Us looks at how class really works in America, examining how it affects our understanding of race and gender, investigating the exclusion of class fromt he national debate, and probing the ways in which class differences shape daily life.

FREE. Open to UVM faculty, staff and students.

Discussion of themes immediately following the film. Please allow for up to 30 minutes of debriefing.

"Israel Through Our Eyes" Art Exhibit

Day Event Description: Open Monday-Friday. 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM in the Multicultural Art Gallery at Allen House

Israel Through Our Eyes is an exhibit showcasing UVM students' various trips and experiences in Israel. Using photography and various other artistic mediums, these works of art will help you see, feel, and understand a college students' relationship with, appreciation for, and understanding of Israel

Reception will be Friday, October 4th, 4:30-5:30 in the Leon Lawrence Community Lounge at the Allen House!

Inocente is an intensely personal and vibrant coming of age documentary about a young fifteen- year old homeless, undocumented immigrant artist's fierce determination to never surrent to the bleakness of her surrounds in San Diego, California.

FREE. Open to UVM faculty, staff and students.

Discussion of themes immediately following the film. Please allow for up to 30 minutes of debriefing.
