Field Data / Learning Activity

default setup
Do two slightly different fossils represent an evolutionary trend?  This section of the module addresses this question by engaging you in an activity where you will be asked to use prior knowledge from life science and some mathematical knowledge and skill to develop concepts about variation of characteristics in a population, evolution--including indicators of past environments and changes in those environments, the role of climate in biological adaptation, and use of geological data to examine a data set that might just document evolution in action.  On the menu bar to the left are two links, the Field Data link provides you with a Microsoft Excel file that contains the raw data used by Kelly in her study of Mollusk Evolution, while the Learning Activity link provides you with a downloadable worksheet that asks you to use the information you have leared in this website, and apply it to outside problems to put your new found understanding of evolution in to action.

Chose a link on the left to get started, or click on the Change Over Time: A Virtual Field Study In Evolution link on the menu bar to return to the main menu.
