'Labor of Love' Exhibit on Display in March

The "Labor of Love" exhibit, which celebrates 25 outstanding Vermont women, is on display at three campus locations this month: at the Living/Learning Center Gallery through March 15 and at the Allen House Multicultural Art Gallery and the Women's Center through March 29.
This exhibit, which was created by Vermont Works for Women (VWW) in collaboration with the Vermont Folklife Center, features stories and photos in honor of working women. It was created in 2012 as part of VWW’s 25th anniversary festivities.

Three UVM staff members are featured in the exhibit: Deborah Lisi-Baker, administrative services manager at the Center for Disability and Community Inclusion; Candace Taylor, student services professional at the UVM Women's Center; and Marie Tiemann, endowment accountant in Financial Reporting and Account Services.

The exhibit's featured women also include farmers, doctors, tattoo artists, college presidents, electricians and general store clerks. VWW executive director Tiffany Bluemle said, "At its best, work connects us to our communities and to colleagues who open our eyes and affirm our efforts. It gives us a sense of purpose. It engages our passion, our intelligence, and our talent."
