Making a Good First Impression Matters
Here is advice from Employers looking to hire UVM students and graduates:
- Research: Know what’s accepted/ expected in your target field or organization
- Make a Positive First Impression: It is always better to be a little over dressed with clean, pressed clothing, leather shoes/flats, dress slacks, medium length skirts, sweaters, button-down shirts/blouses or a simple suit.
- Shine:Freshly shower; trimmed/styled hair and facial hair; minimal make-up, perfume, and cologne; simple accessories.
- Avoid Distractions: This includes rips, stains, wrinkles; revealing clothing; open-toed shoes and clashing clothing.
