Career Fairs give you access to talented students and alumni who are looking for careers. These are also great opportunities for your company to increase its visibility and name recognition on campus.
In addition to attending the fair, we invite you to campus the following day to conduct interviews with selected candidates. You can schedule interviews with candidates you meet at the fair. Alternatively (or in addition), prior to the Career Fair, you can advertise a position, collect resumes, review applications, and pre-schedule interviews. How do I register?
To participate in a fair, login to Handshake and go to the “Fairs” tab to select the fair. After your registration is accepted, we will send you a confirmation email. That email will contain the Career Fair invoice and additional information regarding logistics. We will send another email 1 week prior to the fair with details about parking, directions and other day-of logistics.
Why isn’t my registration automatically accepted?
We monitor and regulate registrations to ensure that we have adequate space for each employer accepted. We strive to have a diverse collection of employers at the fair so that all UVM students have opportunities that are appealing based on their educational training and professional interests. Sometimes, this means we have to limit the number of similarly focused employers.
What is the focus of UVM's Career Fair?
This event is an opportunity for companies and organizations to meet with UVM students and alumni interested in exploring jobs, internships and career options.
Who attends the Career Fair?
Typically, 600-800 students and alumni from all academic backgrounds attend each fair. Many are looking for full-time employment. Other guests are seeking internships and part-time jobs, and researching industries and companies. The event is open to the public.
What is the cost?
For-profit business fee: $300
Non-profit and governmental organizations: $115
The cost covers one 6’ or 8' table, light refreshments, parking and marketing.
Electrical access and wireless Internet access will be available if requested.
How many representatives may we bring?
Please bring one to two people to represent your organization.
What do we bring to the Career Fair?
We suggest that you bring promotional materials (handouts, brochures, flyers, table covering) that highlight your company and available positions. Each organization will have a 6’ or 8' table, so bring materials to have a display that will attract job seekers to your table. Electrical access will be available if requested on the registration form.
Yes! Employers can request to conduct interviews the day after the fair in the Career Center’s Interview Suite. Please contact us or log into Handshake to request and schedule on-campus interviews.
How will the Career Fair and my company’s opportunities be marketed?
We conduct targeted outreach to specific populations of students based on the opportunities companies indicate on the Career Fair registration form and post in Handshake. Companies are responsible for notifying the Career Center regarding opportunities and goals for the fair. In addition, we advertise the Career Fair through email, social media, posters, newsletters, campus departments, faculty announcements, the campus newspaper and on plasma screens throughout campus. We also promote participating employers on our website.
What parking and other logistical information do I need?
More detailed logistical information will be emailed to attendees 1 week before the fair.
Will non-UVM students participate in this event?
This event is open to the public, though the focus of our outreach efforts is to UVM students and alumni. We send notice of these events to the other colleges in Vermont.
