Wanted: Part-time Job. 4 Ways to Approach Your Search.

Posted on September 14, 2010 with No Comments

Many students are returning to campus with the same question in mind, how can I find a part-time job? With the number of students vs. the number of jobs, competition is steep. How can you approach your search creatively to maximize your outcome? Here are 4 tips to help you get started:

  1. Be flexible! Burlington is a small city and has a great public transportation system, so consider looking off campus to find opportunities. Seven Days, Catamount Job Link, Indeed
  2. Be proactive! Visit locations of interest rather than just responding to job ads via email – University Mall, Vermont Business links, Burlington Town Center, local grocery stores
  3. Talk to people! Let everyone know that you are looking for a job and ask if they know of any available openings. Talk with friends, faculty, staff, or anyone whom you may cross paths with, like a cashier at a grocery store.
  4. Use social media! For example, follow interesting organizations on Twitter
