Many students are returning to campus with the same question in mind, how can I find a part-time job? With the number of students vs. the number of jobs, competition is steep. How can you approach your search creatively to maximize your outcome? Here are 4 tips to help you get started:
- Be flexible! Burlington is a small city and has a great public transportation system, so consider looking off campus to find opportunities. Seven Days, Catamount Job Link, Indeed
- Be proactive! Visit locations of interest rather than just responding to job ads via email – University Mall, Vermont Business links, Burlington Town Center, local grocery stores
- Talk to people! Let everyone know that you are looking for a job and ask if they know of any available openings. Talk with friends, faculty, staff, or anyone whom you may cross paths with, like a cashier at a grocery store.
- Use social media! For example, follow interesting organizations on Twitter
