The “Hort Farm” strives to be an accessible working lab and classroom for horticultural technology. Apple variety research as well as field collections of rare flowering crabapples, lilacs, and perennials are showcased during special events. This is also home to the student run Common Ground Student Educational Farm. Ongoing research projects and forest communities are featured along self-guided walking trail tours. Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm (no fee).

Agricultural
and
Environmental Testing Lab
The UVM Agricultural and Environmental Testing Lab reduced the scope
of its services in October 2007 to focus entirely on soil and manure
testing. Test results are interpreted with a software program designed
by UVM researchers and UVM Extension faculty and based on their
experience and research results with Vermont farming and gardening
conditions.
UVM Greenhouse
The
UVM greenhouse is actually several facilities
that provide greenhouse and nursery space to our plant scientists and
students.
The main house, located on campus, is used extensively for teaching and
research. There are also houses located
at the Entomology Research Laboratory on Pringle Herbarium
Housing over 330,000 speciums, this is the third largest plant collection in
Vermont Institute for
Artisan Cheese
The
Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese is the
nation’s first and only comprehensive center devoted to artisan cheese.
The
institute provides education, research, technical services and public
service
to increase knowledge, appreciation, and the expansion of artisan
cheese.
