Projects for Pagans and Christians
The work has to involve some kind of ancient evidence (like a text or
texts; material objects also qualify) and some appropriate modern
scholarship. The project must be a research paper. I can assign students
to work together - based on topic, for example, or random lot, or
alphabetically by last name - or students can choose person(s) with whom
to work. Groups may contain no more than four students. Anyone who prefers
to work on an individual paper may do so.
A very few suggested areas of interest:
Superstitions
Horoscopes
Religious dogmatism or political correctness
Science and religion
Hagiographies and martyrdom, ancient and modern
Magical practices (including medicine!)
Church and state
