Dr. Milton Potash was Professor Emeritus of Biology and a beloved teacher and advisor in the Department for nearly four decades. Please see the remembrance by Professor Joseph Schall under "Faculty News".
Dr. Kurt Milton Pickett passed away on February 11, 2001 after a courageous six year struggle with cancer. He was hired as an Assistant Professor of Biology in January 2007. In October 2010 he was unanimously recommended for promotion and tenure by his colleagues in Biology and in February 2011 he was officially promoted to Associated Professor with tenure. At the time of his untimely death, Kurt Pickett was on a meteoric ascension to the pinnacle of his profession; an ascension propelled by an impeccable intellect, by an enviable breath and depth of knowledge, by an embracement of all forms of inquiry, and above all, by a genuine passion for science and a love for the academy.
