Area of Research
My research focuses on understanding CIN85 adaptor protein signaling mechanisms in mammalian cells. My approach is multi-facetted. Part one seeks to understand the role of Dab1-CIN85 complex downstream of Reelin signaling during mammalian brain development, especially in Reelin receptors (ApoER2 and VLDLR) endocytosis, trafficking and proteasome degradation pathway. Part two takes a more global approach by identifying and characterizing CIN85 binding proteins in murine brain as well as in nonneuronal cells (HEK 293 cells) lysates. The goal of part two is to make an atlas of CIN85 binding proteins in both neuronal and nonneuronal tissues, with a foresighted aim of understanding the molecular mechanisms in which CIN 85 is involved in both neuronal and nonneuronal system. I employ Mass Spectrometric techniques, coupled with a range of biochemical methodologies to decipher CIN85 signaling mechanisms in mammalian cells.
