University of Vermont

The College of Arts and Sciences

Department of Biology

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Integrated Biology

What do I major in?

Incoming students are often unsure which major to pursue (especially difficult may be the decision to pursue the BA or BS degree). Therefore, we recommend that such students initially begin with the Biology BA degree program. Students can easily switch anytime during their first several semesters with the aid of their academic advisors.

UVM has a university-wide core biological science curriculum that serves a number of academic departments and divisions. Each department and division offers undergraduate majors, but a Bachelor of Science degree program in Biological Science is "integrated" and distinct in that it provides maximum flexibility and breadth of study. The Biological Science major is offered under the auspices of both the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
