Vermont Barn Census

The Vermont Barn Census would make a great addition to your classroom. Learning about Vermont's agricultural history could be a valuable experience for students.

We are now booking Barn Census presentations for local groups and schools for early spring. If you would like to kick off your community Barn Census project with an illustrated presentation about barns and the Vermont Barn Census, please contact us!

We can be reached:

  • Via email at mike.plummer@state.vt.us
  • Via telephone at (802) 828-1220
  • Via USPS at Vermont Barn Census c/o Division for Historic Preservation, National Life Building, 2nd Floor, Montpelier, Vermont, 05620

For more information on how historic preservation can be integrated with your lesson plans, the National Service Learning Clearinghouse has put together a guide which includes the benefits of including historic preservation in the classroom, examples from around the country, and resources for interested educators.
