“Tattered: An Investigation of an American Icon” is currently showing at the studio. It will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Seth Butler, a Vermont photographer whose exhibition “Tattered: Investigation of an American Icon” is currently on display at theReciprocity Studio gallery, will discuss his overall approach to photography in the vein of the social landscape including his influences in the history of the photographic medium. In conjunction with thoughts on the display of the American flag in the context of the U.S. Flag Code and the current political climate in America, Butler’s talk will touch upon the topics of working with photography in long-form narrative, finding photographic subjects, overall composition, color harmony and methods for working with available light. “Tattered: Investigation of an American Icon” has recently received critical acclaim from Harvard anthropologist Grant McCracken. The body of work has also been featured in galleries, collections and publications including BlueEyes Magazine and Der Spiegel online.
