Studio Art Major Requirements

Total credit hour requirements: 30 in Studio Art and 9 in Art History

    Category A: Studio Art - Foundation
  • Six hours from ARTS 001, 012

  • Category B: Studio Art - 100 Level
  • eighteen hours from ARTS 113, 114, 115, 116, 121, 131, 132, 134, 137, 138, 139, 141, 144, 145, 148, 195, or 197; with at least three hours from each of the three general studio areas listed below:
    • Area 1: photography, motion picture, digital art (ARTS 137, 138, 139, 144, or 148)
    • Area 2: drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design (ARTS 115, 116, 121, 131, 132, 134, or 145)
    • Area 3: ceramics, sculpture (ARTS 113, 114, or 141)

  • ARTS 191 may not be used to meet major requirements. Only three hours of ARTS 197 may be used to meet major requirements.

    Category C: Studio Art - 200 Level
  • six hours from ARTS 213, 215, 221, 230, 237, 241, 244, 248, 281, 283, 295, or 297
  • Only three hours of ARTS 281 or 297 may be used to meet major requirements.

    Category D: Art History - Foundation
  • six hours from ARTH 005, 006, or 008

  • Category E: Art History - 100 Level
  • three hours from 100-level art history
  • ARTS 191, ARTS 194, ARTH191, ARTH194 may not be used to meet major requirements.
