109 So. Prospect Parking Lot Re-Paving

The entire parking lot, including the entrance and sidewalk along College St., will be closed for reconstruction.  All asphalt surfaces will be milled down and resurfaced with a new asphalt overlay.  The College St. concrete sidewalk and adjacent curbs will be reconstructed.

August 10 – 15, 2015

Alumni House

For the 2 week period running from July 13-24th, exterior work will commence starting with the installation of erosion prevention and sediment control measures around the perimeter of the site. This may include surface grading, silt fence installation and placement of hay bales. These measures will be maintained throughout all exterior site work. Other construction activities will include the removal of two chimneys, site clearing of brush and trees, and dirt removal for foundation framing for the new addition.

Contractors for the UVM Alumni House will park within the fenced area only. There will be equipment noise and vegetation debris generated during the day. Debris will be removed as needed. Construction hours for this project will be 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday for exterior work. Any Saturday work will be limited to interior construction from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Austin Seminar Room - 2015

E.F. Wall will be creating a seminar room in the basement level of Austin Hall Lounge Room 019. Work will occur during the hours of 7:30 am until 3:30 pm.  Work includes new wall, sprinkler work, electrical and finishes.  Egress will be maintained at all times.

Some localized construction noise and activity impacts will occur and these will be managed as best they can by the contractor. 

July 16 – August 17, 2015

Chittenden Buckham Wills Demolition

Demolition of the Chittenden-Buckham-Wills buildings. 

  • Closure of the sidewalk from Fleming Museum south to Carrigan Drive by Bailey-Howe shuttle stop.
  • Work with heavy machinery to physically demolish buildings.  There will be construction noise associated with the demolition.  
  • Closure of sidewalk from Converse Hall parking lot to the plaza between Buckham and Wills halls.
  • Construction fencing will be erected to surround all three buildings.
  • All construction traffic will enter and exit the construction site via Carrigan Drive adjacent to the Bailey-Howe shuttle stop.

May 11 – July 31, 2015

Harris Millis Dining Hall

The limited removal of equipment and demolition of the existing cabinetry and cooking station and Take 5 “Simply to Go” store in the north seating section will begin this week. Primary upgrades will involve creating “My Kitchen” and “My Zone” with cooking equipment and food storage for cooking exhibitions and open student use. UVM Physical Plant will assist the contractor in maintaining normal building operations throughout construction.

Workers accessing the site, material deliveries and construction noise will occur in these areas. Primary impact of construction will be to the north dining seating area. This area will maintain dust control and have limited authorized access.  Public access to the food service stations not under construction and the south seating area will be maintained for public access throughout construction. Construction debris will be removed daily by the contractor. 

Construction hours for this project will be 6:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday.  No exterior work is planned.

Harris-Millis West Courtyard Landscape Reconstruction

The landscape areas located west of Harris-Millis will be re-graded for better drainage and re-seeded. The concrete sidewalks will be replaced and the gravel seating area will be upgraded with new crushed stone. This work will require closure of all western facing doors of the Harris-Millis complex however, emergency egress through these doors will remain available. Signage will be posted to reroute pedestrian traffic.

Some localized construction noise and activity impacts will occur and these will be managed as best they can by the contractor. 

July 6 – 31, 2015

Living Learning - Alice’s Cafe

The relocation of several existing water pipes is required to clear a path for new ductwork installation.  UVM Physical Plant will assist the contractor in draining the lines temporarily to allow new valves and pipe runs to be installed, tested and refilled.  To minimize impact on occupants this work will begin at 6am.  It is anticipated the water to the building will be shut down for the approximately 6 hours on Tuesday, July 21st.  Once the piping is relocated, demolition of a section of block wall and cutting of the floor deck on the second and third floor and penetration of the roof to allow new ductwork installation will begin.  t is anticipated the floor cutting will take two days to complete.  Demolition of the block wall will be completed by the end of this week.  New ductwork installation will begin the following week.    

Workers accessing the site, material deliveries and construction noise will occur in these areas.  Primary impact of construction will be to the common area outside of Alice’s, the Learning Cooperative Room 244, on the second level and the hallway between the Aiken Meeting Room 306 and the Computer Lab Room 314 on the third level where other improvements are underway.  Access to all rooms not under construction will be maintained for public access throughout construction.  Construction debris will be removed daily by the contractor. 

Construction hours for this project will be 6:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday.  Exterior roof work will be limited to M-F 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Living & Learning Dining Facilities Upgrades For Alice’s and Marche

Alice’s Café will be transformed into a Skinny Pancake restaurant. Various food stations in the Marche will be remodeled to provide new food selections featuring local and area vendors.

Workers accessing the site, material deliveries and construction noise will occur in these areas. Impact of construction will be localized for the Marche upgrades but renovation to Alice’s will directly impact the Learning Cooperative, Room 244 on the second level and the hallway between the Aiken Meeting Room, 306 and the Computer Lab, 314 on the third level.  Access to all rooms will be available throughout construction. Containing noise and construction debris will be managed daily by the contractor. 

July 6 – September 18, 2015

Living Learning Commons - Rooms 305, 306, 314, 226 & 227
Living Learning Bldg B – Rooms 101, 131 & 162

  • Conference Room 305 will receive new lounge furniture
  • L/L 306 (Aiken Reading Room) will become a conference/seminar room.  The room will receive new furniture and audio/video equipment
  • Room 314, the existing computer lab, will become a general purpose classroom and a small computer lab
  • Rooms 226 & 227 will receive carpet and paint
  • Room 101 will become the Office of International Education
  • Entry area of room 131 will become a file/kitchenette/copy space for OIE
  • Room 162 will be divided to create two private offices

July 13 – August 25, 2015

Living Learning - Marche

 

The limited removal of equipment and demolition of cooking stations and cabinetry will begin this week. Removal and installation of new ductwork will start. Primary upgrades will involve replacement of equipment and installation of new millwork stations. UVM Physical Plant will assist the contractor in maintaining normal building operations.

Workers accessing the site, material deliveries and construction noise will occur in these areas. Primary impact of construction will be to the dining seating area and bathrooms immediately adjacent to the Marche.  Access outside of the Marche will be maintained for public access throughout construction. Construction debris will be removed daily by the contractor. 

Construction hours for this project will be 6:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday.  Exterior roof work will be limited to M-F 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

July 20 – July 30, 2015

McAuley Hall Northside Café

The limited removal of equipment and demolition of the existing cabinetry will begin this week. Primary upgrades will involve replacement of cabinetry and equipment. UVM Physical Plant will assist the contractor in maintaining normal building operations throughout construction.

Workers accessing the site, material deliveries and construction noise will occur in these areas. Primary impact of construction will be to the student rooms on the first floor south and the admin offices in the Commons. The construction area will maintain dust control and have limited authorized access.  Public access to the remainder of the building will be maintained for public access throughout construction. Construction debris will be removed daily by the contractor. 

Construction hours for this project will be 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. No Saturday or exterior work is planned.

July 20 – July 30, 2015

Rowell 320 Lab Improvements

Rowell Suite 320 rooms A, B, D and F will receive new countertops, cabinets and finishes.  Work will also include minimal electrical and plumbing.

Some localized construction noise and activity impacts will occur and these will be managed as best they can by the contractor, K.R. Adams. 

July 13 – August 31, 2015

UVM Main Campus Greenhouse Complex

Work will include control systems upgrades and various electrical improvements.  To accommodate these improvements, the Greenhouses will be closed to the public for the duration of the work.  All work impact will remain localized.

June 15 – August 15, 2015
