Cook Hall – STEM Ph. 1 Relocation Preparations April 28-May 31, 2017
East Entry Closing: Late developing work scheduling has confirmed that Cook Hall’s eastern entrance doors and exterior stairs will be permanently closed commencing Friday, April 28 by 3:00 PM. The ADA walkway accessing Cook Hall’s south stair tower entrance, and running past these exterior stairs, will remain usable. From Friday, April 28 until Wed., May 31 construction vehicles will be working within the footprint of the exterior stairs but these operations will be safely cordoned off from the ADA walkway by construction ribbons and, when necessary, by construction vehicle flaggers. Cook Hall Entry & Stair Tower Usage: The north and south stair towers will remain in use for both normal building entry and inter-floor access as well as emergency EXIT purposes. If needed, additional emergency EXIT use is provided through the Cook Lobby’s western doors. The escalating transportation of department materials through the Cook Hall lobby, and upper central corridors adjacent to the central stair tower, will convert use of the central stair tower to EMERGENCY EGRESS ONLY purposes. The Cook Hall elevator will remain in service but will be predominantly dedicated to serving the ongoing Cook-to-STEM move efforts. Please pay close attention to all posted warning and directional signage. Construction activity is limited to the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mon. – Fri., and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday. Minimal associated and localized construction noise and activity impacts will occur.
