Projects Impact Dates
Admissions Driveway/Parking Lot Repaving

Work will include resurfacing a portion of the driveway and parking lot adjacent to the Admissions Visitor Center.  The driveway from So. Prospect Street serving the Admissions Buildings and the parking lot behind Clement House will be closed.  You will need to find alternative parking during this period.

May 23 – 30, 2015

Allen House Parking Lot Repair The storm drain on the east end of the parking lot will be reconstructed.  This will require loss of approximately 2 adjacent parking spaces.  This repair should last only one day and is anticipated to occur towards the end of the work week.  Vehicular traffic flow may be restricted at times. 
Some localized construction noise and activity impacts will occur and these will be managed as best they can by the contractor with the means and methods available to them.

Carrigan Roadway Improvements
  1. Roadway improvements are being made from the intersection of Beaumont Avenue and Carrigan Drive to west of the Hills parking lot.  Work on the Beaumont/Carrigan intersection includes, road widening, new curbing and pavement and traffic signal improvements.  April 27 – May 30
  2. The roadway corner between Jeffords Hall and the water tower will be widened and new sidewalk sections will be reconstructed.  April 13 – May 30
  3. The corner of HSRF/Given/Rowell roadway will be widened and a new sidewalk section will be reconstructed.  April 20 – May 30
  4. Roadway north of Hills will be widened and new stairs will added to the current sloped walkway on the west sidewalk connecting to Hills. April 13 – May 30

Roadway will remain open and flaggers will be directing traffic. At times, the roadway will be reduced to one lane traffic.  Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted with signage and temporary walkways will be constructed.

Chittenden Buckham Wills Demolition

Demolition of the Chittenden-Buckham-Wills buildings. 

  • Closure of the sidewalk from Fleming Museum south to Carrigan Drive by Bailey-Howe shuttle stop.
  • Work with heavy machinery to physically demolish buildings.  There will be construction noise associated with the demolition.  
  • Closure of sidewalk from Converse Hall parking lot to the plaza between Buckham and Wills halls.
  • Construction fencing will be erected to surround all three buildings.
  • All construction traffic will enter and exit the construction site via Carrigan Drive adjacent to the Bailey-Howe shuttle stop.

Cook Roadway Improvements

  1. Trench work for installation of conduit from Cook Building to Buckham Hall and from Cook east stairs to the Central Heat Plant.  April 6 – April 24
  2. Sidewalk between Cook and the Central Heat Plant will be closed while trench work is being performed in the area with directional signage rerouting pedestrian traffic.  April 20 – April 24
  3. Following Springfest (April 25th), the road north of Bailey/Howe and the area around the Bailey Howe loading dock will receive new storm drain structures and curbing. New storm drain structures, curbing and pavement will be installed in the vicinity of Cook loading dock and the Central Heat Plant bus stop.  A new storm line will be installed from the Central Heat Plant bus stop to the area between Buckham and Wills Halls.  April 27 – June 15

The Cook-Bailey/Howe roadway will remain open and flaggers will be directing traffic. At times, the roadway will be reduced to one lane traffic.  Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted with signage.  The shuttle bus route will remain operational.  Due to construction, the bus shuttle stop located on the corner behind the Bailey Howe Library at Central Heat Plant will be temporarily out of service.  Riders may use the existing southeast Kalkin and northeast Bailey/Howe stops.

UVM Main Campus Greenhouse Complex

Work will include control systems upgrades and various electrical improvements.  To accommodate these improvements, the Greenhouses will be closed to the public for the duration of the work.  All work impact will remain localized.
