Conclusion
Civilizations
have been living in the marshlands of Iraq for thousands of years and
have relied on the water that was brought to them by the Tigris and
Euphrates as the life blood of their culture. Along with
the people that once lived in the marshes there was a wide diversity of
plants
and animals that called the marshes home. With the destruction of
the
natural flow of the rivers there was an extensive loss of the Marshes;
their
people, plants, and animals. With the recent change in views of
the
marshes and the realization that they were an important ecosystem and
the
attempts to bring them back there is the hope that some of the
marshlands will
be restored to their previous state. It is widely acknowledged
that there
is no turning back time and no way to return all of the lands.
But there
is also a lot of hope for the future condition of the marshes and its
people.
