Alianza Latina
Alianza Latina @ the University of Vermont

¡ BIENVENIDOS A NUESTRA FAMILIA!
Alianza Latina cultural organization run by Latino students for Latino students. We are not, however, exclusive to Latinos or Hispanics, but welcome the membership of anyone and everyone intersted in what we have to offer. We are committed to supporting the LatinAmerican community of UVM, educating others about our cultures and traditions keeping our culture alive through programs and activities. (Any ideas? Come to one of our meetings!)

Nuestra Historia
In 1988, a small group of Latinos started to meet in a supportive social setting and began inviting others to join them. They were lead by Cesar Murillo (deceased in the September 11th attacks) and Philip Gonzalez. With the encouragement of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, they decided to pursue Student Government Association recognition and began the process of defining themselves as an official organization. After drafting a constitution which was approved in November of 1989, Philip Gonzalez was named president with Pamela K. Gardner as advisor of the group. Within a year, they had a budget and began to meet in the A.L.A.N.A. Student Center.
We continue to meet and, though we've experienced a series of ups and downs throughout our history, we are only getting bigger and stronger and forever proud of nuestra herencia latina! ¡Esperamos verlos pronto and email us at!
