CALS 183 Communication Methods Lecture Eleven Outline
Tuesday November 10, 2009, 1:00-2:15pm, 108 Lafayette

Attendance speech: Please state your name slowly, and tell us what advice you would give to a high school student planning on going to UVM for college.

Outside speech critique is now over one week late (-20%).  Assignment will not be accepted after 4pm this Friday (Nov 13).

Speak Off: Tues December 8.  Best Presentation from each lab will be presented in lecture.  Winner gets 100% on the Final Exam.  Contestants earn +10% on the final exam.

Final Exam:  Thursday December 17, 8:00am 216 Commons Living/Learning

Monday lab meets Nov 23, no lecture Nov 24.

Suggestions from TAs:

Persuasive and Choice Presentations should be 8-10 minutes.

Be professional in your presentations.  Assume you are giving your presentation to strangers rather than friends.

Be aware you are expected to be in lab on time (a few minutes early), and remain in lab the entire time.  Having a dentist or doctors appointment is not a legitimate excuse (-1%).

Be sure you know your Speech date and lab role assignment, these have been updated!

Example of Choice Speech:

        Trevor Gaines "Cha-Cha slide"

Formal Class Introductions (graded, 5%).  Don't End with "That's about it", no hats, no gum, hands out of pockets.
