Four to Six page paper critiquing a formal speech given outside of class (due: Friday Oct 26, 4pm) peer edited.  Suggestions (pass around), check the events posted on public bulletin boards around campus, UVM Events Calendar Web Page, Burlington Free Press, Cynic, & 7-Days.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Practice the standing exercise.  Keep hands out of pockets.
  2. Practice and prepare your dramatic reading and an informational presentations.
  3. Get Videotape, and read The Art of Public Speaking: Chapters. 2, 4, 5 & Appendix A7-10;  Read Present Yourself, Chapters 4-6

Be sure you know your Speech date and lab role assignment.

Think about the propaganda techniques used in political speeches.  Zell Miller &  Barack Obama's SPEECH CRITIQUE. 

Formal Class Introductions (graded, 5%).  End with "That's Me!" or "Thank You".  Don't End with "That's about it".  No hats, gum, hands out of pockets.
