Description: SMALL RUMINANT FIBER: 1ST CLASS in the MASTER SHEPHERD COURSE
The Parsons’ Farm, Richford, VT
This first class in the Master Shepherd Course will feature instructors Chet Parsons and Jessica Dilner, who will help participants learn: “Wool 1010,” Matching Wool with Products, Goat and other fibers, Setting up equipment and preparing sheep for shearing, shearing instruction and demonstration and wool skirting and packing. This class could be a prerequisite for selling wool through the VGSA wool pool, or taking one of VSGA’s shearing classes. This class is the first in a series of 10 that will be taught by recently retired UVM Extension Livestock Specialist Chet Parsons of Parsons’ Farm in Richford, Vermont, and with members of the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association. Classes will cover primary aspects of sheep husbandry and will include selected aspects of the goat and camelid husbandry.
