Why Visit the Undergraduate Writing Center?

student quote

Have a question about a paper you're writing? Need a fresh perspective? Want to brainstorm ideas with another writer? At the Undergraduate Writing Center, you can work with students from a variety of disciplines who are experienced writers and trained writing tutors.

Although roommates and friends can be helpful sources of feedback, peer tutors provide experienced support in a comfortable, confidential, and distraction-free space.

Some writers come to the Undergraduate Writing Center because they have a specific question or issue, but you don't need to have a problem to benefit from our services. Simply talking with a tutor can help you move forward with a writing project.

The Writing Center is staffed by over fifty peer tutors from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. Each of our undergraduate writing tutors has experience in writing and tutoring and has been trained through a year-long seminar, following a service learning model.

All students bring a variety of differences to a session that shape how the tutor and writer can best work together. By embracing diversity in all its forms, the Undergraduate Writing Center strives to provide an inclusive and respectful environment for all members of the UVM community. Last year, over 1000 students visited the Undergraduate Writing Center. Last year, over 1000 students visited the Undergraduate Writing Center.
