Classes through Training and Development

Classes that teach you about what makes a good UVM website, how to work in the publishing system, how to maintain your website once it's built, writing xhtml code, evaluating your site's usability, and other topics, are taught by Web Team members through the University Training and Development office. Classes are available to UVM employees throughout the year, and are often scheduled based on expressed interest. Taking an appropriate series of these courses can result in an official Web Certificate in UVM web development. Consider upcoming Web development classes through Training and Development and learn about the Web Certificate Program.

Walk-in Help Hours

The Web Team offers walk-in help hours to all people working (or wanting to work) within the UVM Publishing System. These help hours offer access to the entire Web Team, and each of their unique skillsets, as you encounter problems with design, the publishing system, content, application use, and more. Hours vary by semester.

Learn when this semester's help hours are held.

Maintaining the UVM Publishing System Web Guide

The Web Team created and maintains the living document commonly known as the Web Guide. Here we can update users of the template on new ways of doing things, and the continued ways of implementing features of the Publishing System. In addition to offering helpful information on how to do things, the Web Guide also attempts to offer explanations of why we write copy certain ways, strive for accessibility, and more.

Bookmark the Web Guide as your primary source of online documentation and support when building a website in the Publishing System.

E-mail Support

If you've come to help hours, then return to your office only to realize you don't remember how to accomplish your goal, the Web Team is available for limited e-mail support at: webteam@uvm.edu.

Consult your peers: UVM has a large community of deparmental Web masters. Floating questions to these people via a listserv often returns great answers. Learn about signing up for the WEBINFO listserv.

Online Documentation for Web Updates

In cases where we've created the website for a client, the Web Team always leaves a client with some form of documentation explaining how to make future updates. Learn more about enlisting our services.
