Now that you've mastered the basic features of the UVM Web Template, you may want to look at adding additional, more advanced features.
These features can be divided into three broad areas, outlined below.
Do you have a large site? Are you trying to manage a lot of files? You may want to consider alternative methods for organizing your Web files and presenting all that information online to make it easier for users to find their way around.
These features include: Quick Links et al; Sub-Menus; Site Location; Template Banner Settings; and Alternate Main Menus.
We also provide additional ideas and tools for organizing large sites in a section called Large Site Management.
Do you want to use additional design features? The template offers ways to do this:
Do you have a hard time updating content on your Web site? Or do you want to add more content?
There are several ways you can make updating content more easy by using existing university content, individualized for your department, to automatically update your pages. This content already exists in databases at UVM, which means that you won't have to worry about updating it; you'll just use the database content on your Web site.
The existing content includes: courses; a calendar of events generated by any Corporate Time calendar; a campus map showing your department; a directory generated from the UVM online directory or from the catalogue faculty directory; and news stories from UVM communications or your own departments.
