Most of the instructions on how to edit/update/add features to your website will not change with the UVM redesign. There are, however, processes for some features that will. The majority of the new language and directions for making changes to your site will be found in our section: Additional Template Features.
In the summer of 1998, the university made a concerted effort to address the issues of organizing its existing Web content and develop a consistent page layout and navigational structure. The UVM Publishing System that emerged from this effort has been in place since the fall of 1998 and has allowed university Web site developers to easily produce Web sites with the look and feel
of www.uvm.edu. Web sites using this system automatically transform when the site design changes. Thus, sites in the UVM Publishing system are more easy for Web developers to maintain and more manageable for the Web Team to provide assistance.
This section of the Web Guide will take you through the process of using the UVM Web Publishing System and introduce you to all its features. It assumes that you have already devised a Web site plan or strategy, that you have gathered the information to be placed on your Web site and that you have established a basic organizational and navigational structure. Individuals new to Web development, or those needing additional guidance on Web site planning and organization, should consult the General Web Topics and Tools section of the Web Guide.
