Getting started with Google Analytics©

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For people interested in interpreting their Analytics data, this session will cover:

  • Analytics most revealing information in the Dashboard,
  • customizing data views,
  • setting up filters and creating custom reports,
  • granting your team access to reports,
  • automating the delivery of key reporting data,
  • using goals.

This session is designed for those already tracking data with Google Analytics but anyone is welcome. Attendees who already have Analytics accounts will be able to log into Analytics and working with your own data.

Writing and Editing for the Web

Tuesday, October 13, 2009 - 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Fact 1: Writing for the Web is completely different than writing for print.
Fact 2: Writing for the Web should drive readers to take action. This workshop is designed for anyone who already has a website or is planning to build a new one. Learn the tricks to developing short, concise Web content.

Creating and Editing Images for the Web

Get the basics on working with web images, this workshop will include:

  • How to find, identify and choose high-quality images
  • Tips for taking your own digital photos
  • Determining the optimal image dimensions
  • Selecting the best image format (JPG, GIF, PNG)
  • Cropping and resizing images
  • Basic image editing (remove blemishes, improve contrast, shift colors, remove backgrounds)
  • Compositing images

Intermediate CSS

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 - 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This workshop is designed for those who know the basics of CSS and want to develop their skills, topics include:

  • Short review of some basics
  • Styling links and lists
  • Basic floats for page layouts
  • Media specific stylesheets
  • CSS selectors and inheritance rules
  • Applying CSS to UVM websites

Customizing your UVM Website

Tuesday, December 8, 2009 - 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Give your website a customized look using CSS and our banner and navigation features and more. This workshop will show you how to apply custom CSS styling to your UVM website, use various template features to create a custom design and implement other custom features including a custom search engine and favorite icon.
