Cheese, Butter, Yogurt-Making Class
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Bethel, VT
Description: Learn how to make soft cheeses, butter and yogurt in your own kitchen using farm fresh milk. Get acquainted with using butter molds and adding herbs or other flavors to our final product. The class will include a handout with instructions. Products such as cheese and yogurt culture, cheese cloth, citric acid, and farm fresh milk will be for sale.

The clinics will help you prepare a loan application, learn lender credit requirements for loan approval, find sources of capital to start or grow your business, understand loan interest rates, terms, amounts, and collateral requirements, and how to approach a lender to improve your chances for approval by knowing what they are looking for. Staying Strong in the Off-Season!

Description: The winter is a great time for rest and recovery. But more often than not, the winter also causes us to slow down and lose the strength we gained from a summer of farming. Make the most of the winter's downtime - come join CISA and Lydia Irons, owner of The Flexible Farmer, to learn the basics of anatomy, quick and effective stengthening exercises, and techniques for injury recovery. We will also talk about ways to protect your body from injury during winter tasks like heavy shoveling, and when easing back into heavy farm work come spring. Handouts will be provided, and there will be plenty of time for question and answer. Workshop cost is $5, and dinner will be served.

Farmer to Farmer Advanced Conference on High Tunnel Growing
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Description: University of Vermont Extension, NOFA Vermont and the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers Association are presenting a two day conference on high tunnel growing on December 5-6, 2012. This program is intended for commercial growers, with lots of opportunity to interact and learn from each other over two days.

The registration fee is $150 and includes meals and breaks, but not lodging. This fee covers the two days of the conference, - there is no single day or other pricing option. One on One Ag Finance Hour

Description: Now is a great time to update your financials. “Ag Finance Hour” is a time to sit down with a UVM Extension Farm Business Management specialist, one-on-one, to work on the financial planning, critical to your farm’s success. Meetings last an hour to an hour and a half and are focused on developing balance sheets, cash budgets or completing financial analysis.
