Our 20th reunion is upon us. I hope to see you all (as well as members of the classes of 1979 and 1981) back on campus June 1-4. The reunion committee representing all three classes has planned a “magical weekend celebration,” including a sunset reception in Waterman Manor and a great Saturday evening of dinner and dancing at the Quarry Hill Club. Susan and Jill both look forward to seeing their UVM friends at reunion. Robert Monniere is also looking forward to reunion. He wrote, “I only hope that no one else has lost as much hair gained as much weight, or lost track of as many classmates as I have. I guess I’ll find out in June.” Robert O’Donnell wrote from Leucadia, Calif., “Richie Sobel ’76 is doing a great job with alumni events here in San Diego.” Susan Warren and husband Dave Shepard ’83 live in Middlesex, Vt., with their son, Brendan. Our 20th reunion celebration is planned for June 1-4, and we’ll share it with the classes of 1979 and 1980. I hope to see you there. Great plans have been made by our classmates for a memorable weekend on and off campus. You’ve been hearing enough about me…on to news of everyone else. However, please keep sending your updates to me. Fonda is a personal and commercial lines insurance agent, and Page owns Hereford Printing Resources, a commercial printing brokerage. I was glad to receive news from our classmates for this issue. Before moving on to the news, I just wanted to remind everyone that it is never too early to start planning for our 15th reunion, which is coming up in June 2001. Burlington is still a beautiful and fun place to visit, and it continues to grow and expand. My email address was down for a while, and I believe I may have lost some messages. In case you don’t see your news posted in this column, please send me the message again. Mike Patterson announced that he and his wife welcomed their third daughter, Abigail, born last summer. She joins her sisters, Rachel and Caroline. Greg Dicovitsky wrote to say that he is a software architect in the Boston area. He also wanted to announce his engagement to Dorothy Pek Ling Lim, another software engineer and former co-worker, whom he met while consulting in Virginia. Carolyn Hoser Milligan checked in to say that she is living in San Francisco, where she has been for the last six years. She is working for a software company, SAP America, as a project manager. Last year, Carolyn spent six months in Germany at the company’s corporate headquarters, where she was able to improve her German. She also enjoyed traveling in Europe and Asia. Nancy Gerwig Guerriere sent a note saying that she is living in Shelburne, Vt., with her husband, John, and their children, Brice, Cole, and Pearl. Nancy said that she was shocked when she recently hired a babysitter who was born in 1986. That makes us all feel a bit older. Christopher Guido updated us with news that he still plays music with the group the Torpedoes that includes Scott Wood and Kevin Kleitz. They recently got together to record their latest CD, and Kevin brought his son, Connor, to do backing vocals. Chris said that he also sees Chris Holmes regularly since they work together. He also saw Tom and Marilyn Hall when they all had a night on the town in New York City. Chandler Taylor and his wife, Stacy, are now living in Las Vegas. They have a son, Shane, and a daughter, Madison. Chandler is flying combat search and rescue missions for the U.S. Air Force, and he recently returned from a tour in Turkey.

Thanks to all of you who have written in lately. I think this is the largest amount of news I have received in the two years that I’ve been writing this column. Leslie Day wrote me a nice note telling me about her marriage to Jim Craige ’89 last summer, which took place at the Inn at Shelburne Farms. There were quite a few of our classmates in attendance, including Brian Browning, Gary Karnedy, Roger Dandurand, Kristin Edwards Slavin, and Judy Pinard Guild. Chris Tramontana, Chris Pecor, Betsy Grenier Pecor, Larry Borelli, Cort Blake, Liz Wells Blake, Scott Poretsky, Jeff Sherman, David Strine, and Deb Tauber represented the classes of ’88, ‘90, and ’92. Leslie and Jim currently live in Manhattan, where she is editor in chief of Golf for Women magazine, and he is managing director in Salomon Brothers’ Asset Management group. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. Congratulations to them and to several other of our classmates on the births of their children: Keri Wolfson Craft and husband Kinson welcomed their first child, Carly Elizabeth, on December 23, 1999. They are happily adjusting to life with a baby in Hanover, N.H. I almost became her first babysitter while they were here in New York City for a day, but, unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Another new member to this play group is Eloise Jenks McNair, daughter of Jennifer Kohnen McNair and her husband, Rusty. Eloise was born on November 1, 1999, and she is happily living in Boston with her parents. Rumor has it that Terri Healey Brogan also has some news to share, and I am anxiously awaiting mail from her with further information. Susanna Cassell Kopchains and her husband now live in Plainsboro, N.J. They welcomed the newest addition to their family, daughter Emily, into the world on June 1, 1999. Emily joins her big brother, Benjamin. Susanna would love to hear from other alumni living in the Princeton area. A belated pat on the back goes to Kym Smythe. She sent me a note saying that she had never submitted information about the births of her children, and she’d like to update us. Daughter Kyle was born on May 20, 1991; son Cary was born on June 9, 1994; and identical twin daughters Kendall and Carlie, were born on December 1, 1996. No wonder you didn’t remember to submit this information. When would you have had time? Peter and Meghan Ecclesine Harris sent the most adorable pictures of their third child, daughter Lily, who celebrated her first birthday on August 12, 1999. She joins her big brothers, Max and Ev. Michael Quimby and his wife, Wendy, welcomed their first child, a son, Logan, on October 30, 1998. Linda Zieky Ahern and her husband, Rich, have been living in Cleveland, Ohio, for the past six years. She works in corporate sales for the Cleveland Indians baseball club and enjoys spending her free time with sons Max and Benjamin. Linda, do you ever see Bill Flaherty? Is he still living there? Class of '89

Greetings to you all. We’ve reached the new millennium, which is pretty hard to believe. I remember thinking in college that, by the time the century turned, we would really be old. Guess the older you get, age becomes relative. Hope you all welcomed 2000 in fun and memorable ways. I apologize for being a bit lax with the last few columns. A move to Oregon and a new baby seem to leave little room for other things, but I will try to get back on track, because I know a lot of you look to the column as a way to catch up with old classmates. For starters, two late summer weddings were a great way to see old friends. Maureen Kelly married Dave Gonsalves in Boston in August. It was a beautiful wedding, and lots of UVMers were in attendance, including Bob Saada, Christine Striano, Kyle McDonough, Peter and Anne (’90) Tallas, Drew Turnbull, Emily Katz Moskowitz, Kate Fallon Croteau, Stefanie Conroy Wallach, Kim Slomin, Pecka Mooney Noonan, Susanna Giombetti Robinson, Susan Bowie, Steve LeMay, Robbie Diestel, and Tommy O’Hara. Sadly missed were Tony and Elena Kraus Shulman and Diane Peligal O’Halloran. Then, in September, Kim Slomin married Dave McGarvey in Bridgehampton, N.Y. Hurricane Floyd added a bit of excitement to the festivities but didn’t get in the way of an amazing celebration. Julie Delf, Elyse Kohn, Stefanie Conroy Wallach and Maureen Kelly Gonsalves were all there to cheer on Kim and Dave. Diane Peligal O’Halloran had a baby boy, Jack, in September, and then, days later, Emily Katz Moskowitz had a baby boy, David. Both boys are doing great. Kate Fallon Croteau is now in Edina, Minn., after a two-year stint in Sydney, Australia. It’s good to have her back in the States. Maureen O’Donnell Whitney and her husband, Michael, welcomed their second son, Aidan, in March 1999. He joins his brother, Jack. Doreen Swift Morningstar had a daughter in November 1999 in Boston. Congratulations to Andrew and Ellery Stokes Markin, who were married in July. Seth Moeller, Shelley Tregor ’87, and Shannon Degan ’87 were at their wedding. The Markins are now living in Evanston, Ill., while Andrew attends Kellogg Business School. Edward Herdiech and his wife, Kimberly, had twin boys, Mark and Daniel, in October. They are living in Groton, Mass. Sherrie George Narayan and her husband, Krishna, had a baby girl, Alexa, in June 1999. They live in Pittsburgh. Congratulations to all the new parents and the new babies. Right before I left Boston, I ran into Jennifer Fraser, her husband, and their adorable little boy. She is doing great, and, like most of us, is trying to juggle a career and parenthood. That about wraps it up for this time, but please note my new email address and don’t hesitate to write me with any news of you and your UVM friends. This column definitely depends on all of us to keep in touch. My best to you all.
