Vermont Quarterly, the magazine of the University of Vermont, offers advertisers an excellent opportunity to reach alumni, parents of current students, and UVM faculty and staff three times a year. The magazine’s readership (circulation approximately 100,000) is strongly connected to UVM, of course, but our readers’ ties from college days also extend to Burlington and Vermont. Approximately 32% of our readership lives in Vermont; 55% live in New England; and an additional 34% live within a day’s drive of the state. Vermont Quarterly readers visit the state often for UVM sponsored events such as the spring Reunion Weekend or the Fall Homecoming and Family Weekend. Winter, summer, and foliage season vacations are also popular with this group. The magazine also reaches approximately 9,000 households of parents of current UVM students. This segment of our readership visits Burlington often, particularly at the start and close of each semester. A few additional facts about our readership demographics: Approximately 18,000 of our readers are age 30-39; 9,500 are age 40-49; and 13,000 are age 50 or older. Also of note, nearly 10% of our alumni readership lives within Forbes Magazine’s 2006 list of the Wealthiest Zip Codes in America.
Deadlines and Publication Dates
Advertising space in Vermont Quarterly is limited and in demand. Since ad space often fills before space reservation deadlines, potential advertisers hoping to place an ad in a particular issue are advised to contact VQ as soon as possible. Standard publication dates each year are on or near November 1, March 1, and July 1. Space reservations are generally two months prior to publication dates with finished materials due seven weeks prior to publication.

We accept InDesign, Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop files with screen and printer font files, EPS files, TIF files and other graphic files linked to the document. They must be formatted for a Macintosh. All line art must be scanned at 1200 DPI, 4-color and half-tones scanned at 300 DPI. All colors must be CMYK, not RGB, including in embedded graphic files. Or, print-ready pdf files may be used, making sure that all embedded files in document are in CMYK format, and the proper resolution first.
