Project Overview
The first goal is to identify environmental variables that are determining the location of the boreal/deciduous ecotone.The second goal is to extend the findings from this study to predict how seedling survival and the position of the ecotone will change under climate change scenarios. The purpose of the seedling study is to isolate the important mechanisms involved in ecotone establishment, and therefore the establishment by seedlings of Northern Hardwood species, at altitudes higher than those at which they are currently found
