University Relations seeks opportunities at the national level to advance the goals and the priorities of the University through Congressional or Executive action. We facilitate a comprehensive, University-wide process to identify, prioritize, and communicate key initiatives for federal legislation and funding.
Our office works closely with the President and Provost and other senior academic and administrative officers to educate the citizens and leaders of Vermont about the priorities, programs, resources and needs of the University. We manage a comprehensive process to monitor and influence state legislative and regulatory activity and executive policies affecting higher education and the University of Vermont.
The University and the City of Burlington share many interests and our mutual success is closely related. Working together we have made progress in addressing problems and colloborating on strategic initiatives. Neighborhood programs include outreach from Neighborhood Liasons, Catamounts Classes, Off-campus Living workshops, funding for additional police patrols, and neighborhood clean-ups. Outreach to the community includes lifelong learning, internships, community-based research, technology transfer, arts, athletics, and business resources.
