STIPENDS:

All participants in the UVM Upward Bound program are eligible to receive a stipend.
Stipends are awarded based on grades in 6 academic classes. Attendance at Upward
Bound weekly meetings and Saturday College also affects stipend awards.
Stipends will not be paid to students who do not maintain a 2.0 grade point average and
the student will also be placed on academic probation. If the student’s grade point
average does not meet minimum requirements by the end of the next marking period,
they may not be eligible to remain in Upward Bound.
Academic Year:
Three stipends are awarded during the academic year. The maximum stipend is $80 for
each period.
Stipends will be mailed out on the third week of December, the first week of March, and
the third week of April.
Summer College:
Stipends are also awarded during the summer residential program, Summer College, but
the amount varies from year-to- year based on various factors.
Ten dollars ($10.00) will be deducted from a student’s stipend for all unexcused absences.

| One absence with excuse | No deduction will occur |
| One absence without excuse | $15 deducted |
| Two absences with excuse | $20 deducted |
| Two absences without excuse | $30 deducted |
| Three absences with or without excuses | No stipend will be awarded. Participant may be dismissed from program. |
