Appointed to the Board by the Associated Directors for the Appointment of Student Trustees, Inc., in 2013. Term expires in 2015. Originally from Westford, Massachusetts. Raj received his BA in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and a MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. At Johns Hopkins, he served in the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, was captain of the MASTI dance team, and volunteered preparing adult learners for the GED exam. He is the co-founder of JT Productions, a disc jockey company based out of Massachusetts, and enjoys composing music and being outdoors in his free time. Raj has been actively involved in scientific research. As an undergraduate, he contributed to the field of peripheral nerve regeneration. Before coming to the University of Vermont, he spent a year in Dr. Robert S. Langer’s prestigious biomedical laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he investigated a novel therapy for Type 1 diabetes using transplant surgery. During his first semester at UVM, he collaborated with Dr. Houman D. Hemmati, an ophthalmologist at Fletcher Allen Health Care, and devised a new treatment protocol for Recurrent Corneal Erosion Syndrome, a debilitating and painful eye condition. Raj is currently a MD candidate enrolled in the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
