ALPERT, Briar L.

Elected to the Board by the self-perpetuating board in March 2016. Term expires in March 2022. Born in Chicago, Illinois. Educated at University of Vermont, BS, Mechanical Engineering, 1983 and MBA, 1992. Briar Alpert began his career as a Project Engineer for Pizzagalli Construction Company in 1984. He joined BioTek Instruments in 1986 and has held numerous management positions in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations and Marketing and Sales. He was promoted to President and CEO in 2000. BioTek's instrumentation is used to accelerate the drug discovery process, to advance discoveries in genomics and proteomics, and to aid in the advancement of life science research. BioTek is a privately held, family-run business. The Company's origins date back to 1968, when Dr. Norman Alpert, a physiologist at the University of Vermont Medical College, founded BioTek. Briar Alpert is a Charter Member and Director of VCET (Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies), a Director and Co-Chair of ALDA (Analytical Life Science & Diagnostics Association) and a full Member of VASE (Vermont Academy of Science and Engineering). Mr. Alpert is married to Susan (UVM 1982) and resides in Charlotte, Vermont. Briar and Susan have two children: Sage and Carly.
