Featured video: Building a 3-D printer

Kids at one of our partner schools, Manchester Elementary/Middle School have recently embarked on building a 3-D printer. Yep, you read that right: a 3-dimensional printer. The parts are laser cut out of wood and teach the kids about programming and design. First item off the press? A sloth coin. Instructor Seth Bonnett explains.

Red Clover, Red Clover, send Mrs. Weegar's class over

photo descriptionFrom Mrs. Weegar's 4th grade class in Williston: "March is Red Clover Month at Williston Central School.  We have really enjoyed having a special guest reader present these wonderful books!  After each book, we added our thoughts to a VoiceThread. We opened our VoiceThread up to the school to see what other students thought too." Love it! Click here or on the Voicethread image to hear what students thought of this year's crop of nominees.

Spring is finally here! Get outside with Tech Tips

photo descriptionThe sunshine's making another triumphant return, and this spring we've got TWO great ways for you to get professional development while soaking up some rays. First up, on April 18 we have Exploring the Complex Text of Place-Based Learning, where we'll tromp around Winooski Mill and learn how to incorporate the rich resources of a landscape into the classroom. Then on May 1 we'll go Geocaching! with Kathy Hevey and her students, exploring the woods of UVM's Trinity campus. Bring comfy shoes and, by May, sunscreen? We can only hope.
