Finale

The last two weeks of the internship were focused on finishing up the reports for CHA. After submitting my report on wind power, most of my time was spent editing that report as well as other reports sent to me by Jack Honor. Jack has compiled a draft of the report which he shared with us so we could get a preview of what the final report will entail. It is amazing what all the work completed this summer has become. The report is lengthy due to its combination of broad scope as well as high attention to detail.

Mind Mapping and Career Exploration

The past week I have been working on the final steps to organizing the Equine Center Ceremony. I also stopped by UVM Career Services, a free service offered to UVM students, by suggestion of our internship advisors. On my first meeting, I took the Myers-Briggs personality test; a test designed to tell you what your preferences are, your best features, and where your flaws may lie. The career advisor and I determined I was type ENFJ: extroversion, intuition, feeling and judging. The test then provides in depth descriptions of each type. The tagline for my 'type'?

Output Calculations and Report Writing

PV roof example

Over the last two weeks I have spent my time finishing the fieldwork with the on-site surveys for the PV feasibility study. We have moved on from visiting the various locations to calculating the specifics of each possible installation and writing up formal summaries for each promising facility. Additionally, I have been extensively researching the various incentives offered by Vermont for solar installations and exploring the necessary requirements for each of our proposed installations to be applicable for the state programs.

James Howard Kunstler Explains What "The End of Cheap Energy" Will Mean For Us All

Transition has been the keyword of my semester. My internship with the Clean Energy Fund has served as my transition between being a student and being a graduate. My work has focused on promoting speakers who help others to understand how to transition – whether that transition is away from fossil fuels, into resilient communities, or towards our personal and collective futures.
